TradeCloner is a Tradovate trade copier built for prop firm traders. You trade one Tradovate account, your Master, and TradeCloner copies its trades in real time to your follower accounts, across prop firms. It runs in the cloud, so your PC does not need to stay on for copies to go out, and there is no add-on to install or VPS to keep running.
If you have been clicking the same entry, stop and target into one account after another, this is the part you stop doing.
How copying works on Tradovate
Connect Tradovate. In TradeCloner, add a Tradovate connection. You sign in on Tradovate's own site and authorize access (OAuth), and the accounts on that login become available in TradeCloner. The Tradovate connection guide shows each screen.
Pick a Master and add followers. A copy group is one Master plus the accounts that follow it. Choose the Tradovate account you will trade from as the Master, then add your followers and set how each one is sized. One copy group is active at a time.
Trade. Place trades on your Master the way you already do. TradeCloner copies each order to every follower in the group.
For a full walkthrough with every setting, read how to copy trades between Tradovate accounts.
What gets copied
- Market, limit and stop orders. A market fill on the Master is copied to each follower. A resting limit or stop is placed on each follower as a resting order.
- OCO brackets. A take profit and stop loss pair on the Master is copied as a pair.
- Modifications and cancellations. Move a limit, stop or target on the Master and the follower orders move too. Cancel on the Master and the follower orders are cancelled.
Not supported: stop-limit orders, trailing stops, multi-bracket orders, auto breakeven, and brackets sent through a TradingView webhook. The full list is in known limitations.
Size each follower differently
Prop accounts rarely match, so sizing is set per follower, not per group:
- Multiplier from 1 to 50. The follower trades the Master's size times its multiplier.
- Fixed contract count. The follower trades the same count every time, whatever the Master trades.
- Max contracts cap. A hard ceiling per follower, so an account never takes more size than you allow.
Cross Order lets a follower trade the micro of the contract your Master trades, or the reverse: NQ and MNQ, ES and MES, YM and MYM, RTY and M2K, GC and MGC, CL and MCL, SI and SIL, HG and MHG. It changes the contract, not the count. The count still comes from that follower's multiplier or fixed size, so set it for the exposure you want. More on the mini to micro trade copier page.
Protection for prop accounts
- Follower Protection. When your Master goes flat, any follower still holding the copied position is closed. See Follower Protection.
- Daily profit target and daily loss limit, per account. When a follower breaches one, TradeCloner flattens it and locks it, so no more copies go to that account. Locks reset at 5 PM ET, Monday to Friday. A Master that hits its limit is flattened but not locked, since TradeCloner cannot stop you trading it at the broker.
- Blown-account detection. If the broker closes an account, TradeCloner suspends copying to it.
How these fit together is covered in prop firm risk management.
TradingView alerts on a Tradovate Master
A TradingView alert can place a market, limit or stop order on your Tradovate Master through a webhook, and TradeCloner copies it to your followers like any other trade. Webhooks are included in every plan. See the TradingView to Tradovate webhook guide.
Mix Tradovate with other platforms
Your followers do not all have to be on Tradovate. TradeCloner also connects NinjaTrader (through the Tradovate login), ProjectX (TopstepX and other ProjectX firms) and Rithmic (Apex, Bulenox, Earn2Trade, Tradeify, TopstepTrader and other Rithmic firms). A Tradovate Master can lead followers on those platforms, and a Tradovate account can follow a Master on one of them. See the Rithmic trade copier, ProjectX trade copier and NinjaTrader trade copier pages.
Your firm's rules come first. Prop firms set their own copy trading rules and change them often. Check your firm's current rules before you connect a copier.
Speed
TradeCloner's own processing adds well under 100 ms. The rest is the broker's order handling.
