Lucid Trading copy trading: what the rules say and how to set it up

Rules checked: 2026-10-06. Lucid Trading can change its rules at any time. Read the current version on Lucid's own help center before you connect a copier.

This guide covers Lucid Trading copy trading in two parts: what Lucid Trading says about trade copiers on its own help center, quoted with the page date, and how to set up a Master and follower accounts in TradeCloner. TradeCloner is a cloud-based futures trade copier for prop firm traders: you trade one Master account and its trades are copied in real time to your follower accounts. We have confirmed that Lucid Trading accounts work with TradeCloner end to end.

What Lucid Trading says about trade copiers

"Automated trading systems and trade copiers are permitted."

"All automated activity must comply with Lucid Trading rules."

Lucid's own warning: "Traders are fully responsible for any software errors, malfunctions, or unintended outcomes."

What that means in practice

Lucid's article permits trade copiers, and it puts two conditions next to that permission. Everything a copier does on your accounts still has to follow Lucid's rules, and if software goes wrong, the outcome is yours. Read Lucid's full rules for your account type before you connect, and test with one contract first.

Which Lucid platforms you can connect

Lucid's article Lucid Trading Supported Platforms (updated Jul 28, 2026) lists two groups:

  • CQG supported platforms: NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView.
  • Rithmic supported platforms: MotiveWave, Quantower, Tradesea, Sierra Chart, Jigsaw, Bookmap, ATAS, R|Trader Pro (the official Rithmic platform) and MultiCharts.

TradeCloner connects through four platforms: Tradovate, NinjaTrader (through the Tradovate login), ProjectX and Rithmic. So there are two routes for Lucid accounts, and you pick the one that matches yours:

  • If you log in to your Lucid account through Tradovate or NinjaTrader, use the Tradovate route.
  • If your Lucid account is a Rithmic account, use the Rithmic route. TradeCloner logs in to the Rithmic account itself with your Rithmic username and password, not to the charting platform you use on top of it.

TradeCloner does not connect through TradingView or the other charting platforms on Lucid's list.

Connect your Lucid accounts

Route A: Tradovate or NinjaTrader

  1. In TradeCloner, go to Connections, then Add Connection.
  2. Choose Tradovate, or NinjaTrader if that is how you trade the account. NinjaTrader uses the same Tradovate sign-in.
  3. Sign in on Tradovate's page with the login for your Lucid account and click Authorize.
  4. Back in TradeCloner, check that each Lucid account you expect is listed and the connection shows Healthy.

Route B: Rithmic

  1. In TradeCloner, go to Connections, then Add Connection, and choose Rithmic.
  2. Enter the Rithmic username and password for your Lucid account.
  3. Select your system (your prop firm) from the list.
  4. Connect, then check that your Lucid accounts are listed and the connection shows Healthy.

Set up a Master and followers

  1. Go to Groups, then + Add Group, and enter a Group Name.
  2. Pick your Master Account: the Lucid account you will trade.
  3. Select your Follower Accounts. They can be on a different platform from the Master: TradeCloner copies from one platform to another.
  4. Click Create & Activate. You can have one active copy group at a time.
  5. Place a 1-contract test trade on the Master and check the Filled tab in the Console.

The full walkthrough, with common errors, is in how to copy trades between Tradovate accounts.

Sizing and protection

  • Multiplier or fixed size, per follower. Each follower copies the Master's quantity times a multiplier from 1 to 50, or an exact contract count.
  • Max Contracts. A per-follower cap on the most contracts that follower may hold.
  • Cross Order. Copy a full-size contract as its micro, or the reverse: NQ/MNQ, ES/MES, YM/MYM, RTY/M2K, GC/MGC, CL/MCL, SI/SIL, HG/MHG. It changes the contract; the count still comes from the follower's sizing. See mini to micro trade copier.
  • Follower Protection. When the Master goes flat, followers still holding the copied position are closed.
  • Daily profit target and daily loss limit. Set per account. A follower that reaches either one is flattened and locked. More in prop firm risk management for copied accounts.

These are your own controls. They do not replace Lucid's rules or its dashboard.
