Not every prop account should trade the same contract. A smaller evaluation account may have less drawdown room than your main account, so the full-size contract your Master trades would be too much for it. Or you trade micros on your Master and want one larger account in the full-size contract.
TradeCloner works as a mini to micro trade copier through a per-follower setting called Cross Order. You trade your Master as usual, and TradeCloner copies its trades in real time to your followers. A follower with Cross Order on gets the other size of the contract: NQ on the Master becomes MNQ on that follower, and MNQ becomes NQ.
The eight supported pairs
| Full-size contract | Micro contract | Market |
|---|---|---|
| NQ | MNQ | Nasdaq-100 |
| ES | MES | S&P 500 |
| YM | MYM | Dow |
| RTY | M2K | Russell 2000 |
| GC | MGC | Gold |
| CL | MCL | Crude oil |
| SI | SIL | Silver |
| HG | MHG | Copper |
Cross Order works in both directions for every pair. Micro silver is SIL.
How Cross Order sizes the follower
This is the part to get right. Cross Order changes the contract, not the count. The number of contracts still comes from that follower's own sizing:
- Multiplier from 1 to 50: the follower trades the Master's count times its multiplier.
- Fixed contract count: the follower trades the same count every time, whatever the Master trades.
Example 1, multiplier 1. Your Master buys 1 NQ. A follower with Cross Order on and a multiplier of 1 buys 1 MNQ.
Example 2, multiplier 10. Your Master buys 1 NQ. A follower with Cross Order on and a multiplier of 10 buys 10 MNQ. How 10 MNQ compares to 1 NQ is set by the exchange's contract specifications, so check those before you pick a multiplier.
Example 3, the reverse. Your Master buys 10 MNQ. A follower with Cross Order on and a multiplier of 1 buys 10 NQ: ten full-size contracts, a far larger position than the Master's ten micros. The multiplier cannot go below 1, so when you copy micros into full size, use a fixed contract count or a max contracts cap on that follower to keep its size where you want it.
Turn it on per follower
Cross Order is set for each follower, not for the whole group, so different followers in the same copy group can trade different contract sizes.
- Open Groups and click the gear icon on your copy group.
- Find the follower in the follower accounts section.
- Turn Cross Order on for that follower.
- Set that follower's multiplier or fixed contract count, and a max contracts cap.
- Save the group.
The Cross Order help article shows the same steps in the app.
Caps still apply
Every follower can have a max contracts cap, and it applies to Cross Order followers like any other. Whatever the multiplier works out to, the follower never goes over its cap. That matters most when you copy a micro Master into a full-size follower, and when an account has a contract limit you need to stay inside.
Your firm's rules come first. Prop firms set their own copy trading rules and change them often. Check your firm's current rules before you connect a copier.
