A TradingView to Tradovate webhook turns your alerts into orders. When your strategy or indicator fires an alert on TradingView, the webhook sends it to TradeCloner, and TradeCloner places the order on your Master account on Tradovate. From there it works like any other trade on your Master: TradeCloner copies it in real time to your follower accounts, each at its own size and with its own limits.
So one alert reaches every account in your copy group, not just the one it was sent to.
What you need
- A TradingView plan with webhook notifications. TradingView's pricing page lists "Webhook notifications" on its Essential, Plus, Premium and Ultimate plans, not on Basic. TradingView also says that "webhook alerts are only allowed when 2-factor authentication is enabled" (How to configure webhook alerts). Checked 7 October 2026.
- A TradeCloner plan. TradingView webhooks are included in every plan. Copy trading starts with a 7-day free trial, and a card is required to start it. See pricing.
- A Tradovate or NinjaTrader account as your Master, connected to TradeCloner. Webhooks do not support a ProjectX or Rithmic Master. Your followers can be on any platform TradeCloner connects, including ProjectX and Rithmic.
Set it up step by step
- Connect your Tradovate account and build a copy group. Choose the Tradovate account as your Master, add your followers, and set each follower's size and limits. The Tradovate trade copier page covers this.
- Create a webhook in TradeCloner.
- Copy the webhook URL and the passphrase TradeCloner gives you. The URL looks like
https://tradecloner.com/api/tv-webhooks/receive/<your webhook id>. The passphrase is shown once, when you create the webhook, so store it somewhere safe. It goes inside the alert message, never in the URL. - Create an alert in TradingView on your strategy or indicator.
- Turn on the webhook option in the alert, paste in the webhook URL, and paste the alert message into the message box.
- Start small. Let the first alerts run at a small size and check each account before you scale up.
Alert examples
Replace YOUR_PASSPHRASE with your own. Keep the alert message private: anyone who has the passphrase can send orders to your Master.
Market order (this is the example the app gives you; TradingView fills in the parts in double braces from your strategy):
{"passphrase": "YOUR_PASSPHRASE", "action": "{{strategy.order.action}}", "ticker": "{{ticker}}", "qty": 1, "order_type": "market"}Limit order (buy 1 at the price you set):
{"passphrase": "YOUR_PASSPHRASE", "action": "buy", "ticker": "{{ticker}}", "qty": 1, "order_type": "limit", "price": 21500.25}Stop order (sell 1 if price trades down to the stop):
{"passphrase": "YOUR_PASSPHRASE", "action": "sell", "ticker": "{{ticker}}", "qty": 1, "order_type": "stop", "stop_price": 21400}Close the position in this symbol:
{"passphrase": "YOUR_PASSPHRASE", "action": "exit", "ticker": "{{ticker}}"}Close every position on the Master (allow this action separately in the webhook's settings):
{"passphrase": "YOUR_PASSPHRASE", "action": "flatten_all"}The prices above are examples only. ticker can be a continuous symbol such as MNQ1! or a specific contract such as MNQZ6. If you set a default symbol on the webhook, you can leave ticker out.
What a webhook can and cannot do
It can place a market, limit or stop order on your Master, or flatten your Master's position.
It cannot:
- Send brackets. An alert cannot attach a take profit and stop loss to its order. If your strategy depends on attached brackets, the webhook route is not the right fit for it.
- Place trailing stops or stop-limit orders. Neither is supported, by webhook or by copying.
- Place multi-bracket orders or use auto breakeven. Not supported.
From one alert to many accounts
Once the order lands on your Master, every follower in the copy group copies it the same way it would copy a trade you placed by hand:
- Sizing per follower. Each follower trades the Master's size times its multiplier (1 to 50), or a fixed contract count you set.
- Cross Order. A follower can take the micro of the contract your alert trades, or the reverse. It changes the contract, not the count. See the mini to micro trade copier.
- Follower Protection. When your Master goes flat, any follower still holding the copied position is closed.
- Daily profit target and daily loss limit, per account. A follower that breaches one is flattened and locked, so no more copies go to it. Locks reset at 5 PM ET, Monday to Friday. A Master that hits its limit is flattened but not locked.
Alerts can fire when you are not watching, so set these before you switch automation on. More in prop firm risk management.
Your firm's rules come first. Prop firms set their own copy trading rules and change them often. Check your firm's current rules on copy trading, and on automated trading, before you connect a copier.
