TradeCloner vs Tradecopia

If you are weighing TradeCloner vs Tradecopia, you likely trade several prop firm accounts and want one trade copied to all of them. The biggest difference is where each one runs. TradeCloner runs in the cloud on every plan. Tradecopia offers a desktop app, a browser-based plan and a dedicated VPS plan. TradeCloner may suit you if you want the lower entry price, cloud copying on every plan, TradingView webhooks on every plan, a named mini-to-micro mapping or a free trade journal. Tradecopia may suit you if you want unlimited follower accounts, a native Windows or macOS app, a dedicated VPS, or quarterly billing.

How each runs

Tradecopia sells three ways of running, per its pricing page:

  • Pro: "Local desktop application", with "Windows and macOS support".
  • Pro+ Lite: "Browser-based, any device".
  • Pro+: a dedicated VPS with a "Static IP".

TradeCloner runs in the cloud on every plan. Copying runs on TradeCloner's servers, so it keeps running when your computer is off. There is no VPS to rent and nothing to install in NinjaTrader.

What this means if your PC is off during the session: a desktop application runs on the computer it is installed on, so with Tradecopia Pro, plan for that machine to stay on and connected while you trade. Tradecopia's Pro+ Lite and Pro+ are its options that are not tied to your own machine; ask Tradecopia how each keeps copying when your computer is off. With TradeCloner the answer is the same on every plan. There is more on this in cloud vs local trade copiers.

If you prefer software installed on your own Windows or Mac computer, Tradecopia offers that and TradeCloner does not.

This page does not compare speed. Vendors publish their own speed claims, each measured in its own way, and most of a copy's real time is the broker's own order handling. The fairest test is your own accounts during a trial.

What the numbers say:

  • Account limits: Tradecopia allows more. Tradecopia states "Unlimited follower accounts and unlimited copied orders" on all plans. TradeCloner's plans include 20, 60 or 200 accounts, with paid add-ons beyond that. If you run a large number of accounts, this difference matters.
  • Entry price: TradeCloner is lower. $29 against $49.99 list, or $34.99 with a code. TradeCloner's entry plan is a cloud plan; Tradecopia's entry plan is the desktop app.
  • Middle tier: TradeCloner Pro is $79. Tradecopia Pro+ Lite lists at $79.99 and is $59.99 with a code, so with the code it costs less.
  • Top tier: TradeCloner Elite is $149. Tradecopia Pro+ lists at $149.99 and is $119.99 with a code, and includes a dedicated VPS with a static IP. With the code, it costs less.
  • Billing: Tradecopia bills monthly or quarterly. TradeCloner bills monthly or yearly.
  • Trials: TradeCloner's 7-day free trial covers copy trading, copy groups and adding broker connections, and a card is required. Tradecopia offers a "7-day free trial on Pro (Desktop) and Pro+ Lite" and states "Pro+ does not include a trial".
  • Refunds: TradeCloner refunds on every plan when you ask within 14 days, for an issue the team has validated. Tradecopia's pricing page states "All purchases are final and non-refundable".
  • Free features: TradeCloner's trade journal, news and economic calendar are free, with no card. Copy trading is not part of the free features. A free plan is not stated on Tradecopia's site.

Platforms

  • TradeCloner: Tradovate, NinjaTrader (connects through the Tradovate login), ProjectX (TopstepX and other ProjectX firms) and Rithmic (Apex, Bulenox, Earn2Trade, Tradeify, TopstepTrader and other Rithmic firms). MyFundedFutures and Lucid Trading accounts are confirmed working end to end.
  • Tradecopia: its pricing page lists Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, TopstepX and TradingView. Its homepage also names ProjectX, Quantower, ATAS, Sierra Chart and Tradesea.

Tradecopia names more platforms. Quantower, ATAS, Sierra Chart and Tradesea are charting front-ends that run on a Rithmic account underneath (Lucid Trading's own platform page groups all four under Rithmic). TradeCloner connects to the Rithmic account directly, so an account on any of them already works today. TradeCloner can copy across its four platforms, for example from a Tradovate Master to Rithmic followers.

Copying features

Mini to micro. TradeCloner's Cross Order copies a full-size contract as its micro, or the reverse, across eight pairs: NQ/MNQ, ES/MES, YM/MYM, RTY/M2K, GC/MGC, CL/MCL, SI/SIL and HG/MHG. It changes the contract; the count still comes from the follower's sizing. Tradecopia's features page lists "Per-follower scaling factors, different contract sizes per account". A named mini-to-micro mapping is not stated on their site, so ask them if you need it.

Sizing. TradeCloner sets sizing per follower: a multiplier from 1 to 50, or a fixed contract count, plus a max contracts cap for each follower. Tradecopia lists "Per-follower scaling factors". A fixed contract count and a max contracts cap are not stated on their site.

Copy groups. TradeCloner runs one active copy group per user at a time: one Master copying to its followers. How many copy groups Tradecopia runs at once is not stated on their site.

Orders and brackets. TradeCloner copies market, limit and stop orders, OCO brackets (take profit and stop loss), and modifications and cancellations. Tradecopia lists "Market, limit, stop, bracket, OCO" and "modifications to existing TP/SL levels".

When the Master goes flat. TradeCloner's Follower Protection closes any follower still holding a copied position once the Master is flat. Tradecopia lists a "Position Reconciler, auto-closes orphan positions on follower accounts".

Daily limits and risk tools. TradeCloner sets a daily profit target and a daily loss limit per account. A breach locks a follower and flattens it. A Master is flattened at its limit but never locked, and follower locks reset at 5 PM ET, Monday to Friday. Blown-account detection suspends copying to an account the broker has closed. See prop firm risk management. Tradecopia lists "Daily profit targets, daily loss limits", trade limits, "Distance to Drawdown monitoring", a Consistency Calculator and "Flatten Group".

TradingView. Both take TradingView alerts by webhook. TradeCloner includes webhooks on every plan: an alert places a market, limit or stop order on your Master, and the copy follows to your followers. The Master must be a Tradovate or NinjaTrader account; ProjectX and Rithmic Masters cannot take webhooks. Tradecopia lists "TradingView strategy alerts routed by webhook (Pro+ Lite and Pro+)".

Journal and analytics

TradeCloner includes a trade journal and analytics, news, an economic calendar, a Challenge Tracker, a prop firm deals page, and spoken audio alerts when a connection drops. The journal, news and economic calendar are free with no card, so you can keep a journal without paying for copying.

Tradecopia lists "Real-time trade report and analytics". A trade journal is not stated on their site.

What TradeCloner does not do

TradeCloner does not copy stop-limit orders, trailing stops, multi-bracket orders or auto breakeven, and it cannot send brackets through a TradingView webhook. It runs one active copy group at a time, its webhooks need a Tradovate or NinjaTrader Master, and it has no desktop app: it is cloud only. If your trading depends on one of these, TradeCloner is not the right fit today.

Prop firm rules. Prop firms set their own copy trading rules and change them often. Check your firm's current rules before you connect a copier.

Frequently asked questions

Does TradeCloner need a desktop app?

No. TradeCloner runs in the cloud. Copying runs on TradeCloner's servers, so your PC does not need to stay on, there is no VPS to rent, and there is nothing to install in NinjaTrader. You set it up and watch your accounts from a browser.

Do TradeCloner and Tradecopia both offer a free trial?

Yes, with one exception. TradeCloner's 7-day free trial covers copy trading, copy groups and adding broker connections, and a card is required. TradeCloner's trade journal, news and economic calendar are free with no card. Tradecopia offers a "7-day free trial on Pro (Desktop) and Pro+ Lite", and states that "Pro+ does not include a trial".

Which one allows more follower accounts?

Tradecopia. It states "Unlimited follower accounts" on all plans. TradeCloner's Starter, Pro and Elite plans include 20, 60 and 200 accounts, and add-ons are $8 per 10 extra accounts.

Can I copy NQ as MNQ with either one?

With TradeCloner, yes: Cross Order covers eight full-size and micro pairs, including NQ/MNQ and ES/MES. Tradecopia lists "different contract sizes per account"; a named mini-to-micro mapping is not stated on their site, so ask them before you rely on it.

Can TradingView alerts drive both?

Yes. TradeCloner includes alert webhooks on every plan; an alert places a market, limit or stop order on a Tradovate or NinjaTrader Master, then copies to followers. Tradecopia lists TradingView strategy alerts by webhook on its Pro+ Lite and Pro+ plans.

Which one copies faster?

This page does not compare speed. Vendors publish their own speed claims, each measured differently, and most of a copy's real time is the broker's own order handling. Test on your own accounts during a trial.
